22 rooms, split across two historic buildings

Single, twin, standard double, and an executive room with a king-size bed — all with private bathrooms. Rooms are allocated across The Strands and The Screes depending on availability.

Known for the Sunday Roast — and the smokehouse

Lunch and dinner served daily in the pub and restaurant, plus the Screes Smokehouse doing BBQ over the weekend. Reservations are recommended, and essential in summer.

At least six traditional ales on tap at any time, plus small-batch gin, all made in-house using local Lake District ingredients. Bottles available to take away, and wholesale to pubs and retailers on request.

Stepping into the future, without losing the past

Dave Keeler and Lisa Baadsvik took over The Strands and The Screes in 2025 — Dave first worked here as a teenager in 1982, when his godmother ran the place. The Screes is being renovated room by room, reopening in stages through 2026.
